About

Gamut is a collection of my favourite poems (each of them earning their place as a favourite for a variety of different reasons), written over the course of the last 26 years and hopefully will be maintained as a work in progress, being added to perhaps over the next 26 or even more…

I had a dream a few weeks ago, at the height of pure mania, trying to finish my final assignment for my creative writing module. It involved me being alone, in a boat, adrift in the middle of the ocean, not a grain of land in sight and with a megaphone – yes, literally a megaphone – reciting one of my poems at full pelt.

At the time, i thought it was some kind of metaphor for a latent desire within me to connect, on a romantic level…perhaps even with one person specifically – especially considering the tone of the poem (The Rules of Engagement).

But upon reflection, i realise that the dream was not about a boy, about any boy but a symbol for my need and ability to connect with the world around me via my massive gob and love of words…ie through my very heart on sleeve poetry.

So…hence this…enjoy, or don’t – your choice…
